Things to do in Port Stephens

by Elisa Parry

The RedBalloon team recently spent a sunny winter weekend in Port Stephens exploring the best the region has to offer. From taking on the Tomaree Head Summit Walk to quad biking and horse riding, the team enjoyed an action-packed couple of days. We’ve pulled together a handy guide on how to make the most of your next trip to the region. Our hot tip? Don’t forget to pack your swimmers! It sounds crazy for a winter getaway, but we enjoyed sunny days and more than a few of the RedBalloon team hit the waves over the weekend.

Take a stroll

Sleepy coastal towns are the perfect places to relax and unwind. So, kick off your shoes and enjoy the sand between your toes as you stroll along the beach. For those feeling up to the challenge, hike up Tomaree Head and take in the incredible views from the top (it’s a steep walk, but definitely worth it). On certain tides, you can walk out to the lighthouse – but be sure to check it’s safe and that you’ve got enough time to get back before the tide rises again. The best bit? These activities won’t cost you a thing.
