Visit the venues that play host to some of Australia's favourite sporting events. Sit in the coach's box, media centres and exclusive member areas, smell the liniment in the change rooms and walk on the hallowed turf.

We’ll visit Flemington, home of the Melbourne Cup and the race that stops the nation, pass by the Commonwealth Games 2006 Village and drive around the Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit. The day was enjoyable. The only disappointments were at the MCG, whereby we were only shown the commentary boxes and score boards, but not able to go into these areas to see how these things operate. History is always interesting, but knowledge of how things work should also be a part of the tour. The brewery tour was good, but there should be more hands on activities on how beer is produced, and possibly a slide show on it's production, to include the history of the brewery. At Etihad we had a lovely meal with a lovely view, and our tour guide Simon was wonderful and very knowledgable.

Apart from the rain and poor train service into the city, the day otherwise went quite well. Our tour guide made allowances for late arrival and not to the disadvantage of the other two gents on the tour. Would have been good to see a live horse at Flemington, would have been good to see the MCG museum, lunch at Etihad Stadium was very good all round. Pity the main bar room had been booked out at CUB to showcase the taps. Still, sampling beer in the back bar room was tops. Rating, 8 out of 10.

Simon was a great guide, Only negative I would have is that it was a weekday tour only, would be better if there was weekend alternatives.
