Ever dreamed you might be able to handle some of the world's most amazing wildlife? Cheetahs are the fastest land animal in the world, and in the wild they are found only in Africa. Canberra's National Zoo & Aquarium offers one of the most amazing animal experiences in Australia - the opportunity to have hands-on contact, pat and play with one of these amazing cats. During your Meet A Cheetah experience, you will be in the same enclosure as the unrestrained cheetahs. At all times an experienced zookeeper will be with you to answer your questions and guide you as you interact with this incredible animal.

This experience voucher is valid for 12 months from date of purchase.

Venue:

National Zoo & Aquarium. Located about 5 minutes drive from centre of Canberra

Session Length

The encounter goes for 15 minutes; however participants do not have to pay extra for Zoo entry, So you can spend the whole day at the Zoo, please arrive at least ½ hour prior to your encounter time.  Book at least 3 weeks in advance, subject to availibility.

Guidelines:

Participants need to follow directions and have good mobility. As there is contact with cats, pregnant women need to get their doctors advise prior booking. Minimum age 12, minimum height 1.5.

Numbers:

Up to 2 people per encounter

Spectators:

Family and friends are welcome to pay general zoo entry, good viewing cannot be guaranteed from outside the encounter.

Weather:

Encounters run in all weather, excepting electrical storms or in high winds.

Participant rescheduling notice required a minimum 24 hours prior $5 fee. Within 24 hours $20 fee.

Rated 5 out of 5 by this was a great experience that gives great insite and is so much fun This experience was amazing, the zoo keepers that helped you where very informative and where more than willing to take as many photos as you like. they where friendly and gave you the opportunity to not only get up close to the cheetahs but to also interact with them on another level. Rated 5 out of 5 by This is a great experience for animal lovers Meet a cheetah at Canberra National Zoo and Aquarium was an unbeilevable experience that I will never forget. I was in good hands with the keepers who were very knowledgeable and made me feel safe. It was so fun, I loved every moment of it. Highly recommended for animal lovers. Take a camera and one of the keepers will take plenty of photos for you. 9 April 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing!!!!! Was wonderful ,it was bit wet so Cheetah was not interested in us humans so was great to see her wandering around the compound. When I patted her was surprised that furr was rougher than I thought it would be. The photos were a great memory of an amazing experience. Been to Africa and saw Cheetahs in the wild so never though I would have this experience 25 March 2013
