This Whisky experience in Hobart is an informative, fun day with one of Australia's best distillers. Learn the process of crafting a fine single malt whisky, from mash to neat perfection. Travel to Richmond and have lunch at Meadowbank Winery; enjoy tastings and great things to see all day!

Your day commences at a distillery on the historic Hobart waterfront. The morning's experience is an intimate introduction to the craft of the whisky distiller and a journey through the whisky making process.

You'll meet your tour guide at your first stop and enjoy a brief first glimpse of the magical world of single malt whisky. Next take a short 20-minute trip to the Mount Pleasant Distillery where we join the chief distiller in preparing the malted barley. The equipment will be explained and you'll stop for morning tea. We'll fill the mash tun to begin the time-honoured process, steeped in mystery and tradition.

Morning tea will be served at historic Richmond, one of Australia's best preserved Georgian villages, then you return to the distillery to see the underback filling and yeast preparation.

Move onto award winning Meadowbank Winery where you can check out the amazing Tom Samek floor art installation, enjoy a few tastings, and sit back for some lunch with views to die for. All this, only half way through your day!

The afternoon takes you back to the distillery to witness the stills in operation. To cap off this memorable day, you'll return to the distillery's Whisky Bar for a guided tasting. We've included a great variety of Tasmania's best experiences... come along for a fantastic day!

Session Length

This experience is a full day, beginning at 8 and finishing at 4pm. The experience is available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. If you'd like to book for three or more people, you can negotiate a date of your own.

Guidelines:

Let us know at least one week in advance if you have restrictions on your diet or if you're pregnant. We'd like to work around your needs!

Numbers:

You'll be in a group of only 3-8 people for a truly personalised experience. Groups of 3-12 people can be easily arranged, in which case you could choose your day subject to availability.
