Thrill to the scream of the reel as a Wahoo strikes in the white water! Head offshore aboard the fast new Stebercraft vessel to the Gold Coast's best fishing locations. We target snapper, teraglin, pearl perch, tusk fish, marlin, dolphin fish and tuna. You’ll have an amazing deep sea experience!

At the fishing vessel in the early hours of the morning, you will be met by the skipper and introduced to the features of the fishing vessel. The vessel is a new Stebercraft, purpose built to Maritime Safety Queensland's survey standards and powered by a Volvo turbo diesel engine. The boat is also equipped with the best G.P.S. and Fishfinding technology.

Following a short safety brief, the current fishing conditions, travel times and destination are also discussed.

On most trips travel time is kept to a minimum and the boat heads to one of the closer offshore reefs, travel time is generally about 20 mins. Lures are also trolled, the reel smoking speed of a Wahoo run is unbelievable. It’s quite common to see dolphins swimming alongside the boat and during the whale season, groups of Humpback Whales are often seen breaching.

Upon arrival at the first fishing location, a ‘fishing lesson’ is given on how best to use the rods and reels, baiting and most importantly how to see and feel the bites. Even the most inexperienced angler can catch fish armed with the right knowledge. If you have trouble the first time, your skipper will happily guide you until you master the skill.

Then it's down to the action! It gets very busy when there’s a school of fish under the boat. As you are fishing, your skipper will also put out a float bait or a live bait to lure the bigger predators. Be ready! He may pass you the rod with the BIG one on the line. We also move from reef to reef to maximise time at sea and maximise the catch.

Your fish are cleaned and bagged for you to take home and your skipper can also advise you how best to cook your fish.

This experience voucher is valid for 12 months from date of purchase.

Venue:

Main Beach, Gold Coast.

Session Length

Our fishing trips operate seven days a week. Weekends are busy so please book at least 6 weeks in advance. Half day trips depart at 6am and return at about 11am. Please be at the marina by 5.45am. All trips are subject to weather conditions and a minimum number of anglers per trip are required.

Guidelines:

People of all ages go Deep Sea Fishing, there are very few limitations. Please advise the skipper if you have a medical condition prior to departure.

Numbers:

The price quoted is for one person. Average numbers on a half day deep sea fishing trip range from 5-8 people, so the boat is never overcrowded. You will also get ‘one on one’ help from your skipper to make sure you come home with fish.

Spectators:

You don’t have to be an angler to take our trips; many people come along just for the experience. As well as the fishing experience there are whales, dolphins and many seabirds to see. Please Note: Spectators are an additional cost - payable direct to the supplier.

Weather:

Added under weather: This trip may be cancelled in the event of strong winds and swell. In this case, the supplier will reschedule your experience (refunds will not be given). Please call your skipper the night before the trip (about 6.30pm) for a weather check and to confirm your trip.

Other Info:

All rods, reels, fishing tackle and bait are supplied. We have sunscreen onboard. No fishing license is required in Queensland. We provide fishing trips for beginners as well as the experienced angler. Refreshments are provided on board during your trip.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Fun Trip The trip was well organised with all the facilities and equipment needed. The skipper was on hand to give guidance and advice when required checking in to see everyone was doing ok. The boat was a good size and handled well in the difficult conditions. Would be interesting to go again during calmer conditions. 12 May 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by The day was a complete bust This experience was rescheduled 3 times and I had to wait over 5 months to be able to finally take this trip. When the day finally came the staff member was nearly 30 minutes late with no offer of an explanation and the weather was extremely poor fishing weather but the company insisted that it was fine enough to fish. The boat was cramped with 8 people aboard plus the staff member. The seas were very rough and we were barely able to fish. Out of the 8 people on my trip only 1 caught anything legal size to keep. Everyone else went home empty handed. We were offered a light snack on the boat but because we had to bait our own lines no one wanted to be handling food with bait covered hands. Overall the day was a bust and I certainly won't be going again. I catch bigger fish at my local on land fishing spot. 7 April 2013

Rated 1 out of 5 by Could not wait for it to finish!! This is the second 'deep sea' fishing experience that I have been on. I wont be doing another. This 'experience' was nothing short of a disaster. I am so glad I did not opt for the full day of fishing or I would have been tempted to jump overboard! The captain was just an arrogant man who thought it would be best to insult people if they did not pick up on fishing techniques straight away. I heard him insult one guy asking him 'if he brought his brain along with him?'. The food and drink were discraceful, being a few bottles of water, plus some crackers and dip. By the time the trip was over #thank god# we were all starving. I dont think anyone caught a thing as we were constantly moving spot to spot to 'get the big catch'. As if! Dont use this experience at all! Save your money and get a few mates and hire your own boat. Thanks to this guy I will never do another charter fishing trip again. You were warned. 7 January 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not a great experience The skipper could of been a lot more positive, he could of been a bit more amiable 2 January 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Could have been enjoyable, but wasn't... The weather was great, the other passengers were as keen as we were, but the skipper was just not interested and I think he would rather have stayed in bed. He gave the safety briefing and we set out through the Seaway and on to the fishing area. He told us all how to use his gear, but insisted on belittling us all and asked questions as to whether we had fished before. From his tone, none of us were willing to answer his questions so we all shut up and let him carry on. While fishing he told us he had set a floating bait and if the reel went off, any of us could pick it up. This happened and the fish was brought in and as it was too small, it was released. I started to re-bait the hook when the skipper yelled at me to "leave that rod alone, it is mine!" He came over and took the rod and pushed me away from it. This was the last straw and I told him not to touch me again as it would constitute an assault. He said, "I can see you are a dangerous man!" I replied that I wasn't but I would not be treated this way. He then told everyone that he was going to head into port and put us ashore. He backed down from this threat when we pointed out that he had been treating us terribly all morning. Also, the "morning tea" was not good at all. Some crackers, cream cheese and very bad kabana. I expected better for the price. I knew we might not catch fish as that is the chance you take, but this skipper made the trip totally worthless. 17 December 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Something to look forward to due to difficult weather conditions Bob contacted me early the day prior to departure and told me of the probability of not catching any thing. He has told me to contact him in the new year to arrange an alternate time. As we have spent a reasonable amount of money it is much appreciated so as we can enjoy a fruitful adventure. 15 December 2012
