On this history rich two hour tour of the CBD, you will see Melbourne as you never have before. This 'Place by the River' burst into existence and incredible wealth in the early 1800’s. Exciting stories of prima donnas and ladies of the night, to bushrangers and businessmen will feature on this tour as your professional tour guide dissects and divulges a glorious and outrageous back story to the world’s most liveable city. Weekend and weekday tour itineraries are slightly different, due to building accessibility. This midweek edition will feature the 'The West East' section which trails along Collins Street and takes you for a sneak peek inside the elegant Gothic interiors of the ANZ bank, the plush European-style hotels and into the austere but commanding inner recesses of Melbourne Town Hall and Athenaeum.

  • Approximately 2km is covered on this experience
  • This experience runs from 10am-12noon
  • This experience is available Monday - Friday

Numbers on the Day

  • There will be a maximum of 15 participants and a minimum of 2 participants to run each tour
  • Participants will be contacted by the experience provider direct to reschedule if minimum numbers have not been reached


  • In the event of rain or inclement weather your experience will still go ahead unless contacted by the experience provider
  • If your experience is cancelled you will be rescheduled by the provider

Dress Code

  • Wear suitable clothes for being outdoors, such as a hat and sunglasses
  • Please be prepared for the weather conditions on the day
  • It is recommended to wear practical shoes

  • Participants do not require a high level of fitness
  • Approximately 2km is covered on this experience


  • If a cancellation is made more than 7 days in advance, 10% of original fee will be charged
  • If a cancellation is made between 2-7 days in advance, 50% of original fee will be charged
  • If a cancellation is made within 48 hours of tour commencement, refunds will not be available
  • If changes (not cancellations) are made more than 7 days prior to original booking there is no charge
  • All changes are subject to availability
  • If changes are made within the seven days, this may be considered as a cancellation – and cancellation fees charged accordingly
