Enjoy a romantic getaway cruising down the Murray River, sleeping on-board the worlds only wood-fired paddlesteamer. With superb surroundings, meals prepared by an on-board chef and a bar stocked with regional wines, youll be all set for an unforgettable trip!
This experience is truly a magical step back in time. The Emmylou is the only wood-fired paddle steamer in the world offering regular overnight cruising. Fuelled by red gum logs the paddlesteamer offers modern comfort and some old-world charm. The P.S. Emmylou is a Murray River paddlesteamer, driven by a completely restored 1906 steam engine, and built to the highest world classification standards. She was built locally during 1980-82 in the style of the 19th century paddle boats, and is perfectly at home in the Port of Echuca, residing with the very few remaining paddle steamers of the past.
Elegance and style are the order of the day when it comes to catering for your stay onboard the paddle steamer. You will have three loving and carefully prepared meals a day whilst aboard, each of these a potpourri of taste, texture and colour. Top local wines, plus a range of alternatives from the fully stocked licensed bar are also available to you (at additional expense). All this is served to your table on the outer deck while you enjoy a glowing rose and gold sunset, listen to the river birds' evening chorus, then linger over dessert and coffee to watch the stars appear. All meals are prepared fresh by your on-board chef. Guests are comfortably accommodated in twin share cabins, featuring traditional riverboat style bunks with your own sink and vanity. Activities for guests enjoying the cruises are varied, including fishing, swimming, bushwalking or simply relaxing under the stars by a campfire on the banks of the mighty Murray River.
There will be up to 10 participants on the day.
Children under 5 are not encouraged for overnight cruises.
