The benefits of giving an experience

Think Christmas is still ages away? Think again. We’re getting to the pointy (and festive) end of the year which means it’s time to get organised and start thinking about all those people on your list for Christmas gifts.

This year, why not think outside of the gift-box. If you’re in charge of organising corporate gifts, yearly rewards or simply looking for a Kris Kringle option that’s not a novelty mug – you’ve come to the right place. Here’s a couple of reasons why you should consider giving an experience instead of a gift this time around. 

1.     Help someone tick off a bucket list item

You spend a lot of time if your colleagues, which means you get to know them very well. Chances are, you know exactly what they’d do if they won the lotto. Which means you know if they’d love try skydiving, shark diving or rally car driving. Imagine if as a way of saying thank you for all their hard work, you sent someone on up in a hot air balloon. You’d be gifting them an experience they’ve always wanted to do, but probably wouldn’t buy themselves. And for that, they’ll feel appreciated, grateful and over-the-moon about checking off a big-ticket item from their bucket list. It’s a win-win for everyone. 

2. It encourages people to treat themselves

Giving someone a cash reward before Christmas is always lovely, but the risk is, they won’t necessarily put it towards an experience for themselves. Two things happen when you give a great experience gift. You feel great when you see their reaction at opening the gift.
