This horse riding getaway adventure gives you access to a remote and beautiful section of the Victorian High Country that’s off the main tourist track. Tour operator and experienced horsewoman Helen Packer has been running trail rides in this region for nearly 30 years which means she’s equipped with extensive local knowledge. She’ll be able to organise a ride day that is personalised to you and your group. Sure to inspire and delight!

Come back to your temporary home after a day of horse riding and enjoy a hot shower, a tasty meal cooked over your campfire and sleep in an authentic cattleman’s hut. This style of accommodation is perfect for anyone who wants to escape modern life and get back to nature. Don’t expect any tvs, hairdryers or ensuites. Each hut has an outdoor toilet, shower and beds complete with towels and linen. The site is run on hydro and solar power and the mobile reception is fairly patchy. A great way to unplug and recharge the soul, you’ll be able to truly admire the outdoors without any screens getting in the way.

Rides start and end at The Willows – Helen’s rustic homestead — and are led by seasoned guides who will brief you and provide riding instruction if needed. Helen, uses natural horsemanship methods to train her even-tempered horses, so you can rest assured she understands their personalities well and will match you with one that suits your ability. Beginners and experienced riders are welcome.
