Shark Diving Introduction
Never been scuba diving before? Here is your chance to get up close and personal with huge grey nurse sharks, giant stingrays, sea turtles, wobbegong sharks, moray eels and much more. Under a safe and controlled environment with professional dive instructors - this is the opportunity of a lifetime!
Your shark diving session will begin with a total briefing and introduction to scuba diving followed by a safety video. Under the expert supervision of professional dive instructors, you will then be suited up with a wetsuit, mask and all diving equipment and enter the specially designed dive pool to gain confidence and skills for your dive. You will soon discover the thrill of breathing under water for the first time and your heavy equipment becoming weightless. Then it’s on to the real thing. You will enjoy a 30 min tank dive in the oceanarium allowing you to get up close to 4 different species of shark - 7 adult grey nurse sharks (one is the largest in captivity in Australia), 4 different species of rays, 2 species of turtles and a vast array of marine life. The group size is small and personal and you will be assisted at all times by your instructor. Allow extra time to enjoy any of the complimentary guided tours and shows around the aquarium.
If you have any of the following conditions: Asthma, Heart Disease, Epilepsy, Diabetes, Chronic chest condition, Chronic sinus condition, Ear problems, High blood pressure, you are pregnant or you have any other medical conditions, including injuries or psychological issues that may prevent you from participating in the dive. You require written confirmation from a doctor stating your condition is not prohibitive to diving before booking the dive.
Please note:If you have been certified but have less than 15 dives logged, you will need to be included in this introductory program. For certified divers you will need to present your log book or license on the day to be allowed to do a Certified Dive.
This experience voucher is valid for 12 months from date of purchase.

Session Length
Approx 2.5 hours. The dive is available 7 days a week excluding Christmas Day.
Guidelines:
Minimum age 14. You must be able to swim. STRICT MEDICAL RESTRICTIONS APPLY: If you suffer from OR have ever suffered form Asthma, Epilepsy, Diabetes, any Heart, Sinus or Lung conditions, any recent injuries or surgeries you will need a SIGNED MEDICAL CLEARANCE FORM from a doctor.
Numbers:
There will be up to 4 divers in the group plus professional dive instructors. Changes to the Dive session time, date or diver identity can be made 72 hours prior to the dive at our discretion. An admin fee of $15 for each change will apply. Changes within 72 hours of the Dive are not permitted.
Spectators:
Spectators are very welcome to come along to watch your dive and will get a great view of you and all your new marine friends from the viewing tunnel. Spectators receive a 20% discount on entry.
Weather:
This experience is not subject to weather conditions as the dive takes place in the Oceanarium tank.
Other Info:
IMPORTANT: You cannot fly within 12 hours after the dive. You must not drink alcohol with 12 hours before the dive. If you are pregnant, or suffering from a cold, hay fever, hangover, cough, breathlessness or ear infection you will not be allowed to participate.

My experience was great, I thoroughly enjoyed it, but it would have been nice to have a thicker/warmer wetsuit, was very cold in the water.

Adrian & Tony at the shark dive have the biggest hearts, patience & souls that I hope their mothers realise how wonderful their young mans grew up to be. They assisted me when I had problems with my train of thought & helped me in another way from others to still be able to enjoy the experience & feel the adrenalin rush like everyone else. The experience itself was AMAZING!! The staff were so friendly and took the time to be sure that we were all comfortable. They made it feel like we were important people going in, not just one of five dives they do per day. The whole thing was made so easy through RedBalloon. They sent out confirmation emails and all we had to do was print it and bring it along. Thanks for the experience RedBalloon!!!

I had a fantastic experience. I enjoyed the diving more than the Shark but having the animals in the tank at the same time was fantastic.

I found it very simple to use the RedBalloon website. They did everything for me and it was an easy and clear process. On the day I arrived for my shark dive, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the staff were expecting me, there were no delays in starting the dive experience, and no issues with payment etc. It wasn't even a problem that I forgot to take my Red Balloon Certificate with me. A really stress free gift idea, I'd recommend it to anyone.
