Ever wanted to kayak and snorkel on the beautiful Gold Coast? Paddle across Broadwater to South Stradbroke Island and watch the stunning wildlife pass you by – if you're lucky you might even spot a dolphin frolicking close by!

On this relaxing kayak tour, you will paddle across the short passage of Broadwater to the beautiful white sandy beaches of South Stradbroke Island and visit two other islands along the way.

Your journey begins after a comprehensive safety briefing, held on the beach by your guide for the day. As you start paddling across Broadwater in your kayak, your first stop will be on Wavebreak Island for an amazing snorkelling experience amongst an abundance of sub-tropical fish. Hand feed the fish and be amazed at their curiosity. Or if relaxing is more your scene, take a break on the beach!

You will then leisurely explore the popular Broadwater by either paddle power (tide assisted of course!) or kayak sail (based on favourable winds!) before arriving on South Stradbroke Island. For your second stop, you will go on a brief walk across the island to marvel at the vast sand dunes and deserted surf beaches. Be fascinated by this amazing sand island, which has three different types of forests. You might even get to see the local wallabies whilst on the island.

After a scrumptious picnic (morning or afternoon tea of cakes, pastries, breads and fresh tropical fruit) held on a secluded beach and served with a selection of cold drinks, you will head back to the mainland, passing Crab Island, where the local sting-rays hang out! Upon your return to the Gold Coast, your courtesy vehicle will then take you back to your accommodation.

Session Length

The experience is run either in the morning or afternoon, depending on winds and tides for the given day. Morning tours start at approx. 7:30am and afternoon tours from approx. 12:30pm.

Guidelines:

Children under the age of 13 years must be accompanied by an adult. No prior experience is necessary to kayak, although a good sense of adventure and enjoyment of the outdoors is advantageous.

Numbers:

We operate with a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 12 people. Larger group numbers can be catered for – please notify us at the time of booking.

Spectators:

Not suitable for spectators.

Weather:

The tour runs in sheltered waterways and is therefore not affected greatly by bad weather. In the case that we need to cancel a tour, your experience will be rescheduled for a later date.

Other Info:

Life vests and snorkelling equipment will be supplied on the day. There are 3 kayaking legs involved in the activity. This is broken up with different activities so you'll have time to relax and enjoy the scenery! You can expect to get wet while in the kayak.

    The Kayak Adventure was fantastic. I took my 13 yr old daughter along for the ride and she loved it. Not too difficult for first time paddlers either. Great weather, awesome snorkeling, a very yummy morning tea, an easy walk through the sand dunes, complete with wallabies and all conducted very professionally by our tour guide who was relaxed , helpful and a wealth of information. A must do adventure for anyone with a love of the outdoors. I would happily pay to do this again.

    The tour was fun and much more than we had thought. The pace was great, there were plenty of stops and the guide gave us information along the way. Thorough safety briefing/instructions at the start which was very helpful.

    It was a fantastic day! Our guide was brilliant with a great knowledge of the area. The snorkeling was such a unique experience and there was a wide variety of fish. Having the fish food encouraged the fish to surround you, which is breathtaking. I can't wait to experience a RedBalloon adventure again.

    It was a great day, would have been a bit better if we had a longer time to snorkel. But otherwise a great experience!
