Picnic in the Blue Mountains after an exciting trail ride! The beautiful Megalong Valley has spectacular scenery you won't forget. Your one hour horse riding adventure will take you through the pristine wilderness of the Blue Mountains, then enjoy a picnic prepared for you at a setting just for 2.

During this exhilarating horse ride you will travel into deep gullies and along high ridges amid stunning scenery of lush pastures, rugged mountains and pristine wilderness.

If you’re looking for a real Australian experience, then this horse riding and private picnic is perfect for you. It is a great way to see the spectacular Blue Mountains and spend some quality time with a friend or partner.

This trail ride is perfect for beginners as we have over 100 horses of differing temperaments for you to choose from. When you arrive you will be matched with a horse that compliments your level of riding experience. At the guide’s discretion, more experienced riders may be able to break away from the group at intervals during the ride.

Your ride leaves from the farmyard and slowly meanders through paddocks, up along ridges, and then down through the wilderness.
You will see horses, cattle, sheep and dogs along the way. You may also be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of some of the native animals that live here – wallabies, kangaroos, goannas or even dingoes

The property is very large and is located in the heart of the World-Heritage listed Blue Mountains. Our guides are friendly, highly skilled and love the outdoors. They will thoroughly enjoy showing you around this unique and picturesque environment.

After your horse ride there is a picnic lunch will be set up for you. Your picnic will be a selection of cold meats, salads, cheese, crusty bread, apple pie and cream, fruit, and include wine, fresh juice and soda’s.
Sit back with and enjoy a few refreshments after your ride; look out over the beautiful Megalong Valley and reflect on your gorgeous day out!

Please note: Bookings for this experience cannot be made for more than 8 weeks in advance. Due to the popularity of this experience it is recommended that you activate your voucher as soon as possible.

This experience voucher is valid for 12 months from date of purchase.

Venue:

Blue Mountains, NSW – approximately 2 hours’ drive from the Sydney CBD.

Session Length

Megalong Valley. Follow the Great Western Highway to Blackheath and turn left at the traffic lights.  There’s a sign for Blue Mountains Horse Riding Adventures and Megalong Valley Farm. Reception is on the left. Parking is available. We can also pick you up from Blackheath train station.

Guidelines:

There is a maximum weight limit of 110kg for inexperienced riders and riders must not have any medical conditions that will hinder their safety during the ride. You must be 18 years of age or over to be able to drink wine during your picnic. We can cater for people with any level of riding ability.

Numbers:

The price quoted is for two people. It includes a private picnic lunch for two in our gazebo. Numbers in the riding group may vary from anywhere between two and 10 people.

Spectators:

Friends or family are welcome to attend and make use of the facilities at our centre while you ride. We have a fully-licensed bistro.

Weather:

Due to weather conditions this experience may be cancelled. You will be advised by the experience provider if your experience is to be rescheduled otherwise it will proceed as normal. A Driza-Bone may be provided if it is raining and alternate dining options may be provided.

Other Info:

You will need to sign a waiver on the day, prior to participating in this experience. Remember to bring sunscreen, insect repellent and your camera! Please advise us at the time of booking if you have any special dietary requirements.

Rated 1 out of 5 by dissapointed ! when we reached katoomba the hotel owner advised us to take caution as the farm had been under review by council and rspca he advised to go earlier to have a look and have a ride to feel comfortable with the horse before yhe ride we got there early and our ride was delayed by 45 minutes , there was 12 in our group with mix of riders the ride was slow through the forest one rider was very ammateur and she wasin the middle of the pack and because of that we didnt get a chance to trot properly so was a slow ride she was riding with ballet flats hmm on top of all this my partners horse's horse shoe was half off and they still made him ride it he was cautioned whilst cantering we felt bad for the horse that he rode was in pain whilst riding we were booked for a private picnic for two also but was not private it was back on the farm with others that had booked the picnic also I got this as a gift thru red balloon im surprised that they dont check their experience providers red ballon should use trip advisor to check reviews, majority for this venue are horrible! 13 May 2013

Rated 2 out of 5 by Average experience at best The scenery was spectacular and the staff friendly. Unfortunately that's where the positive experience ends. We went horse riding in a very large group of around a dozen people which made for a very busy and UN-enjoyable experience. The "private picnic" overlooked a car park and we were served stale bread. 28 April 2013

Rated 1 out of 5 by Really Poor Beautiful location and horses, however we were really disappointed with the picnic, it wasn't what we expected and hoped for. We requested a vegetarian picnic prior to the day, and received a container full of meat. When I approached one of the ladies about our picnic, she took the meat out of the container and gave it back to us, leaving us with a very basic lettuce and tomato garnish/salad. However, more importantly, we wearnt going to eat from the same container in which she only removed the meat. 8 April 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing experience!!!! Breath taking views of the Blue Mountains, what a relaxing way to spend the Easter long weekend!!! The ride was very relaxing and we had a beautiful picnic set out for us afterwards. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. This was an engagement present so we are very happy with the experience. 1 April 2013
