Visit the mysterious island of South Chanel Fort, where we will dock to take a guided walking tour through the once secret military base and sea bird breeding habitat followed by the return kayak journey home.
The tour begin with a brief covering terminology, equipment use, skills and safety procedures. Your highly experienced guides also educate kayakers on the marine life and points of interest likely to be encountered.
Your guide will lead you into Port Phillip Bay, where your destination is the mysterious Sth Channel Fort. Here you will dock for a guided tour of the island learning about this fascinating man made island which is a wonderful example of cutting edge military technology as it stood in the late 1800's. Not only does the fort itself represent an important part of Victoria's colonial history but it also provides important breeding habitat for endangered bird species, penguins and sea birds.
