Cruise along South Australia’s biggest river system for an excellent overview of the River Murray, its diverse history and culture. Spend 3 relaxing hours on board and enjoy morning tea, a cold buffet lunch together with a complimentary glass of wine, before browsing the historic town of Mannum!

On the day of your river cruise, you will be collected from your accommodation before setting off for a full day visiting The Murray River.

This river cruise provides an excellent overview of The River Murray, its diverse history and culture through to its present time. Spend three relaxing hours on board our riverboat for a unique, personalised service and attention that a small vessel provides.

Before boarding the riverboat, we head to the Mount Lofty Summit. This is our first stop for the day (weather permitting) and offers an ideal opportunity for that great photo opportunity over Adelaide.

M.V.Jester is our vessel for the next three hours as we enjoy a leisurely cruise down the mighty Murray. Soon after boarding, you’ll be treated to morning tea consisting of cake and a cup of tea or coffee. During the cruise, enjoy a delicious lunch of cold meat platters, home made sandwiches, vegetable slice, a fruit platter and finish with more locally made cakes, tea or coffee. Your cruise also includes a complimentary glass of house wine or soft drink.

Our host’s knowledge of the river is boundless and their expert commentary covers topics such as the original riverboat trade, history, fossils, Aboriginal history, irrigation systems and flora & fauna.

After departing the riverboat, you’ll have some time to browse the historic township of Mannum, where we also offer free entry into the Mannum Dock Museum for a look at the 100 year old paddle steamer P.S. Marion. We also stop at the Mannum Lookout for panoramic views over the town and river.

Our final stop is Melba’s Chocolate Factory. Located in Woodside this is quite seriously chocoholic heaven, where you can taste or purchase some delightful chocolate treats to devour on your way home. Afterwards, we continue home through the stunning scenery of the Adelaide Hills.

This experience voucher is valid for 12 months from date of purchase.

The experience was informal, the tour guide (David) was extremely interesting and informative and Jeff and Helen, owners of the Jester were also very informative of the habitat, geography, geology and politics of the Murray River. This combined with their sense of humour and a great lunch made for a great day. My husband Kelly and I would highly recommend this trip to like-minded people. Additionally, we enjoyed the small group experience and the side stops coming and going.
