Go From Fluster
Chef to Master Chef

Australia has been consumed by a cooking frenzy, but if you're anything like the RedBalloon Team, you've probably either been watching from the sidelines or going gung-ho attempting recipes with a false sense of confidence. Take Kristie, our inspired 'fluster chef' Marketing Manager, whose recent pie attempt left her kitchen in shambles and took nearly two hours more than it should have.

Are you feeling inspired too? This month, why not harness your culinary prowess and learn from the professionals? RedBalloon has cooking classes from around the world that cater to all levels of experience, so step out of the spectator stand, enter the kitchen arena and release your inner master chef.

Our Own Master Chef

Our very own master chef, Duncan, took out first place at the RedBalloon cook-off for Australia's Biggest Morning Tea. His red-and-white gingerbread house scored top points, so we thought we'd share his inspiration. Click on the link for the recipe and a handy gingerbread house template.

Duncan adapted the decorations for a red-and-white themed gingerbread house, so we have included his version below.

To decorate:

  • Strawberries and Cream lollies for the roof frontage and sliced for window awnings
  • Raspberry Jubes sliced in half for roof and walls
  • Milk Bottle lollies for art deco tiles and sliced for window ledges and shutters
  • Jaffas for generous scattering
  • Red food colouring to add a little icing for red curtains and outfits
