Sydney Weekender has classified this Italian cooking class as 'One of the best places in the world to learn how to cook authentic Italian'. So why not relax after a long day and learn how to cook Italian whilst enjoying a glass of wine surrounded by people who share similar interests?
Your host and cooking teacher for the evening is Luciana Sampogna, a graduate from the famous Simili Sisters' school in Bologna and author of Light of Lucia, the amazing cookbook which will take you through the journey of Italian life, love and food revealing the best of "L'anima Italiana", the Italian soul.
As Gourmet Traveller defined Luciana, 'She is also following in their footsteps: her cooking school teaches the Simili Sisters' recipes as well as following their philosophy of introducing the time-honoured traditions of regional Italian cooking to a new generation who, even in Italy, are fast losing these skills'.
You will learn that Italian food is not about techniques but carefully balancing ingredients, giving you the opportunity to discover the real flavour of Italian cuisine.
For this class Luciana will take you to the heart of Emilia Romagna. From scratch you will make your dough all by yourself. You will learn how to make the famous Tortelli di zucca (classical tortelli pasta filled with pumpkin). Luciana also explains how to make different variations.
Luciana will then uncover all the secrets for your antipasto toscano, serve some warm homemade bread with it and soon you will learn more about Italy and how to prepare your next dinner party dessert!
Now the pasta has rested it is time to make the shapes and the results are what you aimed for. You're inspired and all the work is over.
All we need to do now is relax around the dining table, enjoy the wine and the final meat demonstration and of course taste what one could only describe as an Italian feast!
All the respected Food Magazines including Gourmet Traveller, Delicious, Vogue and Good Living have recommended this authentic Italian cooking class!
