The Indian Pacific was named after the two great oceans it joins and symbolised by the magnificent wedge-tailed eagle that so often soars above it, the train traverses 4,352km (2,698 miles) between Perth and Sydney, and vice versa. This epic journey spans a continent, travelling the whole distance in three days and three nights. It gives you the opportunity to experience Australia's vast open spaces from a unique perspective. Whether your final destination on the Indian Pacific is west to Perth or east to Sydney, you’ll have many opportunities to leave the train and take in some of the region's highlights. With so many wonderful sights to enjoy, this isn’t just one of the longest train journeys in the world, but also one of the most memorable.

Venue:

The Indian Pacific departs from Sydney Central Station right in the heart of Sydney, and arrives into East Perth Station only 15 minutes from the city of Perth.

Session Length

This is a 3 night getaway. Departs Sydney (Wed all year, Sat Jan-Mar, Sep-Nov) at 2.55pm and arrives in Perth three days later at 9.10am. Departs Perth (Sun all year, Wed Jan-Mar, Sep-Nov) at 11.55am and arrives in Sydney three days later at 10.15am.

Guidelines:

Must be fit for travel, if have a medical condition or injury Travel Insurance is advised. Gold Service Cabins have upper berths which require access via a ladder, single cabins have shared facilities. Disabled guests are required to travel with a carer.

Numbers:

Independent Touring, many other guests will be onboard the service at the same time. IMPORTANT: Please note, this is a ONE-WAY JOURNEY ONLY. You may choose which direction you wish to travel; either Sydney - Perth, or Perth - Sydney.

Spectators:

Apart from waving goodbye on the station platform, this experience is not suitable for spectators.

Weather:

In the case of floods which prevented the train travelling we would advise guests as soon as the information was advised to Great Southern Rail, normally 24-48 hour prior, a choice of alternative arrangements are advsised.

Other Info:

IMPORTANT: Please arrive at the station one hour prior to departure with your booking confirmation number. Guests are permitted 2 bags per person of no more than 20kg per bag. One cabin bag per person is required for overnight requirement.

Suitability Information:

There is a special disabled carriage for guests in wheelchairs, we do require the guest to use an onboard wheelchair during the journey and store their own wheelchair for use when leaving the train. Please advise on booking.
