This Adopt A Dolphin experience for kids provides children with an educational and rewarding link to the life of a dolphin. Adopting a dolphin for a year helps preserve the lives of dolphins so that your children can continue to share the earth with these amazing creatures for years to come.

Whales, dolphins and porpoises are incredible animals. There are over 80 species distributed in every sea and ocean, as well as some of the major river networks throughout the world. Often friendly, playful and inquisitive, these intelligent and social creatures captivate us with their beauty, grace and dignity.

Unfortunately, these animals, like many other creatures on earth, are suffering as a result of the human way of life. Dolphins face many threats and these include chemical pollution, boat strikes, entanglement in nets and habitat loss. When you adopt a dolphin you are directly supporting action that aims to reduce and eliminate the continuing threats to dolphins and their habitat.

There are five dolphins to choose from:

Billie – a female who spent some of her younger years in an aquarium
Wave – a female who loves to perform!
Sparkle – a motherly dolphin who has had several calves
Spunky – a lively and determined adult male
Captain Hook ‘Hookie’ – an easily identifiable male, first identified in 1989

These dolphins live in the Port River estuary in South Australia and have been under constant observation for over 20 years. This makes them one of the three longest-studied pods of dolphins in the world. By adopting a dolphin you will be helping to protect dolphins all over the world.

During your Adopt A Dolphin experience you’ll receive:

A postcard of your adopted dolphin

Regular updates on your dolphin’s activities
Information and newsletters on dolphin and whale conservation
