My first experiential reward was a year long, personalised astrology reading for working some crazy hours over Christmas. I was 15 years old and from my after school job, it was the best present that I got that year. Since then I've been fortunate enough to try some pretty awesome things, like my first ever loop the loop over a castle in Scotland or getting up close and personal with an army of sharks, what a feeling, what a view! But it's not always about being an adrenalin junkie, some of my most memorable experiences have been much more relaxing and practical; I've learnt to make pasta from scratch, how wine is made (and how to taste it), driven a sports car, and developed a taste for a good scrub down and Shiatsu massage.
Landing a job at RedBalloon in 2007 means that I get to work for a company committed to giving it's customers and employees an awesome experience everyday. The work I do means that I get to leverage 10 years of experience in training, product development and marketing to support clients with internal recognition and incentive programs and customer facing promotions. My role allows me to continually grow too.
In 2011 we launched the Engagement Capability Research project with business coaching firm AltusQ and have added a whole new dimension to our understanding of how and why the programs that we create with clients deliver a return on investment. The most exciting part of my role is listening to businesses and their employees to understand their individual opportunity to better their engagement and delight their stakeholders with thanks, acknowledgment and FUN. What we do isn't rocket science; it's as simple as connecting people to each other through shared values, goals and experiences, telling stories and understanding how this fuels improved business outcomes.
